What is word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM)? WOMM is all about people wanting to share their positive experiences with your products/services with their friends and colleagues. Harnessing word of mouth is one of the most important promotional efforts that you can make. Studies have shown that consumers value what they learn from their families, friends, and colleagues far more than anything they read, hear, or learn from the media.

How can you apply this to your next trade show exhibit? Here are 3 guidelines for building successful WOMM programs:

  1. Give your loyal customers something to talk about—great products and services. Consider having them talk to customers in your trade show booth.
  2. Make it easy for loyal customers to tell others about your company.
  3. Identify who the “influencers” are among your loyal customers and turn them into customer advocates. They are your unpaid (golden) sales force
